Common name: American Kestrel
Scientific name: Falco sparverius

Size between 11″ and 12″. Smallest hawk that inhabits Patagonia. Distinct by its reddish tones on the feathers. It is common to see it standing on fence posts watching around or staring at a prey. It has a wide distribution and it can be found in Tierra del Fuego all year round (resident species).
